 Link Scanners Minimize

A Link Scanner is a program that you install on your computer that automatically checks for viruses or malware on the website you are about to visit.
There is also a Website you can go to... to manually enter a www.company.com website address.  (This is great to check your own website! -- to see if your website has been hacked.)

If you are using Trend Micro Internet Security, Trend Micro has its own built-in link scanner called TrendProtect.
Installing a 2nd link scanner may cause problems - unless you disable the internal link scanner.
Ditto with the other brands of anti-virus software like AVG, Avast, etc.

To manually scan a website for threats, click here.

After checking to see if the anti-virus software on your computer has a Link Scanner built in,
if it doesn't, you can install Grisoft's AVG Link Scanner, a separate software that is free, here.

"Free" anti-virus software is no longer enough to protect the computer.
July 2010:  1USA recommends Avast Pro anti-virus software or Avira Premium Security Suite. Both are the "middle" one on their page.
I recommend these two because they are better than AVG, Norton, McAfee and the other brands of anti-virus software in our tests at 1USA... and I am in constant contact with computer repair shops who prefer these brands also.

The best way to check a computer for viruses is to have a computer with Avast Pro installed, and another computer with Avira Premium installed, and you'd plug in your hard drive into these computers as a Drive D (or E, or F) and scan them.  It takes hours to do a good job.

If you are reading the pages on this website... and you like what you see... but only have a @AOL, @NetZero, @Hotmail (etc.) email address, you can sign up with 1USA and retrieve ALL your emails in one safe place:

 - You can keep your other less-secure Email Address for any length of time.  Our 1USA Mail Servers can 'pull' emails from any other server.
Our 1USA server will 'import' your other emails and run them through our four different anti-virus & anti-malware scanners - where you can be pretty sure that the 'nasties' don't get into your In-Box.
